Pottery

Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children Pottery & Sculpture Studio is one of the most interactive departments which received more than 2,000 visitors over the years ranging from seven-year-old children to adults of various ages and specialties. The studio is a creative space for artists of all ages to explore all the different pottery and sculpture techniques.

The studio offers specialized courses in hand building, pottery on the wheel, sculpture, mold making and casting under the supervision of specialized artists with extensive experience in the field. Fashion

With fashion becoming a leading force in the UAE, Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children aims to strengthen the fashion industry by offering a space for designers to learn all the basic foundations of fashion design and textiles. Workshop Brief Description:

In this course, you will learn the basic drawing proportions for fashion design to create your own fashion figure. You can use this body to practice drawing clothes on.

Materials needed:

Paper, pencil, eraser, tracing paper, ruler, color pencils or markers. Copic markers recommended but not mandatory. Focus will be on drawing more than coloring.

Workshop Brief Description:

A one to one class to teach a child how to use a sewing machine in case he/she has one at home and wants to begin. A guide to setting up a machine and learning how they work.

Materials needed:

This is a tutorial on how to set up your machine if you already own one and tips to begin sewing.

Workshop Brief Description:

Slightly more advances class where you can design your own pair of jeans by adding some simple embroidery to the hems of the jeans or back pockets.

Denim jeans, sewing needle, embroidery thread, pencil or pen, scissors

Workshop Brief Description:

Children can learn to use a simple hand sewing technique using felt fabric to create their own small bag or pouch.

Materials needed:

Sewing needle, embroidery thread, felt fabric, pins, buttons, scissors, and patches or embellishments for design.

Workshop Brief Description:

Children can re-design their old or plain t-shirts with a simple technique of using their own stencil design.

Materials needed:

T-shirt, pencil, eraser, sticky book cover, scissors, fabric paints or acrylic paints, paint brush, a home printer to print out stencil design or you can draw it by hand and scissors.

Printmaking

Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children’s Printmaking studio is a creative space dedicated to providing a tailor made program within one of the oldest and most essential fields in the world of Art. From Intaglio and Relief to stencil printing, the studio offers all the available techniques utilizing expert knowledge and professional machinery.

The studio aims to target passionate and talented young artists and equip them with the skills and know-how in order for them to pursue and develop their own creative styles. This will in-turn raise awareness about printmaking and contribute to the art culture in the UAE.
